La Comisión de Competencia de India (CCI, por sus siglas en inglés) aprobó la adquisición. Se trata de las más grandes en el segmento de Internet en India después de la adquisición de Flipkart en 2018.
La adquisición permitirá a PayU, Prosus Ventures, ampliar su negocio de pagos y fintech en India y en el extranjero. Asimismo, llevará la inversión acumulada de Prosus en tecnología india a más de USD 10 mil millones.
“PayU India y BillDesk podrán satisfacer las cambiantes necesidades de pago de los consumidores digitales, los comerciantes y las empresas gubernamentales en India y ofrecer tecnología de punta a aún más sectores excluidos de la sociedad, mientras se adhieren a el entorno regulatorio en India y brindando una sólida protección al consumidor”, expresaron desde Prosus, según medios internacionales.
PayU opera actualmente en más de 20 mercados, como uno de los principales proveedores de pago en línea a nivel mundial por volumen total de pago (TPV), que suma USD147 mil millones.
PayU India y BillDesk, que ejecutan negocios complementarios dentro de la industria de pagos digitales de la India, esperan manejar conjuntamente 4 mil millones de transacciones al año.
